Google Maps 4.0 for Android Adds Buzz, Night Mode Navigation and Personalized Syncing

http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2010/02/500x_mapsupdate.jpg (http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2010/02/mapsupdate.jpg)The real next version of Google Maps (http://gizmodo.com/tag/googlemaps/) for Android is getting pooped out right now, at least for the Nexus One (http://gizmodo.com/tag/nexusone/): Maps 4.0 adds Google Buzz (http://gizmodo.com/5467878/google-buzz-on-phones-location-is-the-killer-app) (of course), the synchronized starring in the Droid's 3.4 update (http://gizmodo.com/5465266/google-maps-update-brings-multitouch-to-motorola-droid) and, intriguingly, night-mode navigation.
It's only showing up on the Nexus One for now—no update available yet on our Droids, which have got 3.4. Our suspicion is that Maps 4.0 could require Android 2.1 (http://gizmodo.com/tag/android21/), which is supposedly hitting the Droid (http://gizmodo.com/5466971/droids-android-21-update-full-of-multitouch-and-some-disappointment) later this week. We will seeee.
