nano desktop seems to be a mini version of the X-window system that is common to linux users. It seems he has been working on porting this desktop to the PSP, and these demos he is showing off are examples of what is to come. This may one day become the ultimate shell of the psp.

So, I tested this thing......and it just goes to a black screen and it shuts down PSP.......

I downloaded the first link.......I'm on a 1.5PSP and u have to use the no k-exploit mod.........

thats cool. is this a good program for use or is it more or less proof of concept? by that i mean what kind of stuff will it be able to do?

It appears this release is just a proof of concept. I think I am unsure if an actually operating system is being ported (in which case you may see some cool ports of some neat programs (pre existing nano X based web browsers, games, media players, etc) or just something else.

The news posted states that this version has been compiled for use ONLY with the pspe "emulator". It will apparently need to be recompiled by the author before you can actually use it on your psp.

Ooop! I didn't see the 'E' on the end of PSP

I'll test it later on the PSP emulator

Nanodesktop is a new tecnology that allow
you to create easily your psp applications
without knowing sce** routines, or using
text editor and GCC.

We'll provide you a complete manual with
informations about Nanodesktop routines
and a tutorial for integrate Dev-C++, PSP
and PSPE.

You can create and debug your PSP applications
under Windows (homebrew runs on PSPE) and,
when you finished, you run the homebrew on
real PSP.

Furthermore, Nanodesktop includes different
tecnologies that hides to programmers the
differences betweek PSPE and real PSP. So,
the same C code runs for PSPE homebrews
and, after simple recompilation, for real
PSP.

Nanodesktop supports you in file manager
(integrate file managers routines ready for
your applications), in manages memory stick,
in manages windows environment, in graphical
and text visualizations. Support API for file
class, so it is very simple to create a shell
with few rows of code.

Integrates code for buttons, events, scroll-bars.

Manages minimize, maximize, resize of windows
and integrates internal memory manager that
allow the execution in environments without
memory manager working (PSPE).

It allows to create a single applications that
runs under PSP and **without changes in
C code** under Linux environment.

It provides you support for open/save images,
and for webcam in PSP.

Different from other solutions (LUA), Nanodesktop
is totally written in C, using optimized algorithms.

It will released under Nanodesktop license,
a variance of LGPL License. It will be open-source
in any case.

It was create for development of scientifical
applications using PSP platform, in a reserved
research center in University of Messina.
