Speaking in an interview published today on Develop, Graveck’s Jonathan Czeck has said that studio's creating games for the iPhone must approach their project with a realistic attitude.
Asked about the secret behind creating popular games for the App Store, Czeck admitted: "Nobody knows anything. We all just guess. I think it’s basically to be realistic. If something stinks, be real about it and don’t point fingers."
Using the Unity engine, Graveck created Skee-Ball, and extraordinarily popular iPhone game that held the number one App spot in Apple's charts for a total of five weeks.
"Chances are you’re not going to have any influence on how the App Store operates, so accept it and work with it," Czeck added. "Brands seem to be a big deal, because you’re usually selling to people’s glances. Don’t set yourself up for failure with too big of a risk where your game has to be extremely popular for you to break even. Build upon smaller successes."
