View Full Version : PlayStation 3 game prices revealed from Best Buy

That's right boys and girls, Best Buy Canada is touting bold game prices on their website. For the ripe price of $74.99, these jokers don't come cheap. But if you thought the next-generation of gaming was going to cost you anything less than an arm or a leg, you might as well dust off your cartridges.

Does this really come as a surprise though? With a console as steep as the PlayStation 3, it'd be naive to think the games would be bargain-priced. As much as I'd like to say "Keep your eyes out for an amended page" or be wary of the current costs, we may be kidding ourselves thinking that next-gen games are going to be anything cheaper than 75 bucks a pop.

hmm that works out at about 40 quid, which is actually how much most psp and and ps2 games cost in the shops in the uk. of course there will be a price mark up upon euro release(why oh why) but if sony stick to there promise of region free games then it may be okay to import all the games for a pretty reasonable price(minus tax and postage of course)

I wonder if this is for first or third party games.

Called it :). The high price is due to Blu-Rays high manufacturing costs.

Who in their right mind would buy a video game for $75, sony is just asking people to find ways to pirate their games. (I know blu-ray is supposed to be hacker proof, but i am sure they will find a way)

i must be missing something, how much are average games in the US, unless my conversion is wrong then there is almost no difference to current games here in the uk.

how messed up is the economy?

good games for ps2 and xbox 1 are $50, xbox 360 games are $60-$50.

So $75 is like $15-$25 more than we are used to spending here in the u.s.

Xbox/PS2 game that's been out for a while- $30-40$. New Xbox/PS2 release- $50. New Xbox 360 release- $50-$60. PS3 game- $75.

You know what, unlike some of you,I'll wait until Sony says something official about the game pricing before I pass judgement. I swear some of the stuff some of you guys try to pass off has truth is mind boggling.

And even if it is true, there is a simple solution, instead of bitching about it,just don't buy it. Plain and simple.

The ps3 is expensive. This is not going to be good
system sales. the ps3 will
cost 600 or 500 bucks
from the get go. add
4 70 dollor games 3 30 dollor controlers
and you just spent 900 bucks and
800 bucks respectivivly. I just hope
the ps3 has a really good homebrew community or i wont get it.:(

65 USD is a little steep, but I suppose isn't so bad. New games generally cost 50 USD for the PS2. Not a huge increase, but enough to make a dent in the wallet.

You know this is sadder then you think, I work at a best buy in canada and the prices for all the announced games (all at 74.99 so it may just be a fake price) and the ps3 being listed at 700 canadian dont exactly fill me with confidence. Of course we dont even have a listing for the model without HDMI, makes me wonder if they're even going to bother

Your forgetting that back in the day Zelda for N64 cost $100 Canadian so this is not a big deal.
