Twin Galaxies, the international high-score certification authority, is the judging partner with 2K Sports on this, so as you can imagine the video component takes up about half of the restrictions. But first, anyone living in Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota or Vermont are ineligible. So is anyone under 18 years old. And this is applicable only to the game's Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, and the contest only runs through May. We won't know the winner's name, if there is any, until June.
Entrants will have to be signed in to Xbox Live or PlayStation Network as, interestingly enough, it looks like they'll be required to select something called "Perfect Game Mode" - which displays that text during your game, and must be visible during the video recording of it.
Other restrictions: No delay tactics. No pausing. No mound visits, which is a new feature that can calm down your pitcher or improve his stamina, although if no one is on base it's doubtful his pitching target would be jittery in the first place.
Here's the biggie, though: You can't pick your pitcher, only your team. You must then throw with the team's pitcher scheduled to start that very day (which is a feature under the game's MLB Today mode.) As this contest begins March 2 and baseball doesn't start until April, I guess that means you get the use of your favorite team's opening day starter for a month. Then for April you gotta be smart and pick the days when Johan Santana or Roy Halladay or whomever is actually gonna start.
Finally, for those going after this, I'd say it's almost a rule that you not follow your catcher's pitch call suggestions, especially location. It seems to be a one-way ticket to Line Drive Island.
The full terms and conditions can be read at the link below.
