Uh, whoa. When we heard Google's threatened pullout of China (http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/12/google-to-stop-censoring-chinese-search-results-will-review-th/) had prompted Motorola (http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/19/googles-spat-with-chinese-government-causes-postponement-of-a/) to seek out an alternative search provider (http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/21/motorola-bringing-shop4apps-app-store-2china-adds-workaround-fo/) for its China-bound handsets, we can't say we were expecting a partnership with Microsoft and Bing to result. But here we are, staring at a press release announcing the Bing search and Maps will be the default on Moto's Chinese Android phones starting in Q1 -- and the partnership is described as "global," so there's a chance it could spread.. That's just one more slap in Google's face from Moto, following the release of the Yahoo-powered AT&T Backflip (http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/01/motorola-backflip-for-atandt-unboxing-and-hands-on/) -- and another step away from the tight relationship with Google that produced the Droid (http://www.engadget.com/tag/droid). And does this mean Motorola might yet build a Windows Phone 7 Series device, despite a very public commitment (http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/live-from-motorolas-android-announcement-at-mobilize-09/) to Android? We'd say Eric and Sanjay have some unresolved differences to work through.Motorola partners with Microsoft, will use Bing search and maps on Chinese Android phones (http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/10/motorola-partners-with-microsoft-will-use-bing-search-and-maps/) originally appeared on Engadget (http://www.engadget.com) on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 21:33:00 EST.
