Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division has appointed Redington India as the sole national distributor for the company's Gen-X gaming console, the Xbox 360.

As per the deal, Microsoft will utilize Redington's distribution network for reaching-out to consumers across seven cities in the country, including Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, and Pune.

Further, Redington will invest towards setting-up a network of flagship Xbox 360 stores as also service centres in these seven cities. The company will deploy trained personnel to drive after-sales service support for Xbox 360, as well as serve orders under Microsoft's Xbox 360 pre-order campaign currently underway.

Speaking about the partnership, Mohit Anand, country manager - entertainment and devices division, Microsoft India, said, "We share a long-standing partnership with Redington in India, and they are our partners of choice for distributing Xbox 360 too. We are confident that together, we will be able to reach-out to the ever-expanding space of gaming enthusiasts in the country, and bring to them Xbox 360."

J S Kulkarni, chief executive officer, Redington India, said, "Given that India is almost a virgin market for gaming devices, we see a big opportunity for Xbox 360. We are quite excited about the product, and our partnership with Microsoft for distribution and post-sales services for this product."
