Miemt11 is the coder of quite a few great projects for the PSP and is hosted here at DCEmu :), heres what he posted yesterday on his site:

Hi, finally got some time before my trip again ()

Project 1: GBA for PSP

Lot of code had change from the last release, mainly on mode0/1/2/3/4/5 and code CPU emulation.

Speed wise, increase greatly about 2.8 time.

Sound are better now but still got a lots of pop pop sound

Maybe when there is no more room for improvement, I will use the second CPU.

Project 2: PMP Simple Converter

All the code almost complete, need to do a bit more debug before release. Stay Tune...

new feature

1: Add a multi-pass encoding mode
2: Add a direct DVD video to PMP format (help those with DVD disc)
3: Add a aspect ratio converter (optional)
4. Add a sub title support

6: Add audio enhancement mode (optional)
7: New skin resolution 600x520 pixel
8: Add an Advance video cropping and resize option

With those specs its looking very Zinc like, or to be more accurate Impact (the one before it changed into Zinc) so SF EX is the strong possibility from it. Yup looks that way as theres a pair of shots, not from this emu, over in this thread (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=30287) showing SF EX2+ & Strider 2.

Well either way this is still great news. Even though I have never even heard of this system before it looks pretty interesting.

Oh by the way I wouldnt give your hopes up yet on a ps1 emu. ;)
(No I am not talking about the sony one)

July 29th, 2006, 17:45
yeah it's definately not a ps1 emulator. The ps1 has a 33 mhz processer, 2mb sys ram, and only like 1mb of video ram

if I remember correctly

man, coding for the PSP has come down to who can find the most obscure system and emulate it if it comes down to being a 3DO emulator haha.

Ok, it all sounds good. now is the zinc an arcade system or was that some home console? Tell you the truth I´ve never heard of it.
But hey, don´t mind, I´m definately going to have to start making a list of all the things the psp can emu, lol, i´m starting to lose track.

ok now I´m a little confused. How come it says this

This hardware is based on Sony Playstation

underneath the specs?

Zinc is a emulator that focuses in emulating the ZN1, ZN2 and System 11 arcade hardware which are based on Playstation hardware. :D

Ok, thanks for all the info.
So zinc is an emu of arcade hardware that is based on ps1 hardware. So, like someone already asked in this thread. wouldn´t ps1 emu be close?
Well whatever the case may be, it´s all good.

Sorry to all wanting those Namco games but from the sounds of it its not looking like a system 11 emu, which is what Tekken & Soul Edge were on along with a lot of the games mentioned in the thread. The bit about the QSound emulation & the mention of ZN-1 & ZN-2 seems to indicate that if he is going to work on sys 11 game emulation it wont be in the first one at least. Wonder if the PSP can handle system 11?
