The latest Media Create data has revealed that PSP was the best-selling bit of games hardware in Japan last week, with more than 23,000 units shifted.

PS3 came in second with 18,951, to be precise, just outdoing the Wii on 18,818. Over 10,000 DSi LL units were sold, while the figure for DSi came in at 8,000.

Microsoft managed to shift another 3000 Xbox 360 consoles while the DS Lite did just over 1700. Sony bottomed out the chart with the PS2 (1300) and the PSPgo (1000).

In the software chart Super Mario Galaxy 2 was still on top with 105,000 copies sold. PSP title Fairy Tail: Portable Guild debuted at no. 2. The only other new entry in the top ten was Hisshou Pachinko Pachi-Slot Kouryaku Series Portable Vol. 1: Shinseiki Evangelion - Tamashii no Kiseki. No idea, but it's at no. 6.

In third and fourth were Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 and Soccer Tsuku DS: World Challenge 2010, both for DS. Lost Planet 2, at no. 5, was one of two PS3 entries in the chart - the other being World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010 in ninth place.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker slipped down to no. 7, while Medarot DS: Kabuto / Kuwagata was at eight and Tomodachi Collection rounded out the chart at ten.

PS3 came in second with 18,951, to be precise, just outdoing the Wii on 18,818.

A very slow week in Japan, usually the numbers are much higher (by about 6,000 apiece)... But SONY shifted 133 PS3 consoles more than Nintendo's Wii, which is falling behind as of recent, though millions ahead in the sales.

As I stated five months ago and continue to do so, I feel that 2010 is SONY's year.

The PS3 has sold 35.7 million worldwide (March 2010) and the Xbox 360, which had a whole year ahead for sales is only five million ahead where the Wii is currently the furthest ahead with 70.93 million sold worldwide (as of March 2010). By the end of the current generation, Nintendo will still be at the top (since it is a budget console), but SONY will be not very far behind.
