PlayStation Plus has been given a June 29th launch date in Europe, and a new website promoting the paid-for arm of the digital network has revealed some interesting details about what’s on offer.
Chief amongst the functionality is Full Game Trials. This will allow subscribers to download complete PS3 games that can be bought on Blu-ray. They will then have unlimited access to the game for one hour – or thereabouts, depending on the game.
Any Trophies unlocked during that time will be retained once the trial has ended, and in-game progress is saved in case you decide to buy the full game.
The service was announced during the company’s E3 press conference and will cost $17.99 for three months or $49.99 for a full year. MCV reported last month Sony was likely to launch a premium PSN service.
UK prices have not been confirmed (expect to pay £40 for a year and £15 for three months) but Sony reckons users will get free content worth around £200 throughout the course of the first year.
Other membership perks include early access to demos, exclusive beta invites, selected free PSN games and automatic downloads that push anything from patches and firmware updates to full demos straight to the console.
During the first month, Plus subscribers will be able to download the full version of WipEout HD, PSN classic Rally Cross, avatars, map packs and more – and will also be given access to Qore, the PSN video game show.
Subscriptions are free for the first three months and all content downloaded are owned by consumers as long as they maintain their subscription.
