iPod Linux is an open source venture into porting Linux onto the iPod, it is based on uClinux's kernel.
iPod linux features additional applications which have not been written for Apple's Firmware.

It is safe to install on 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPods, Development is currently underway for the later iPods with click wheel, mini, U2, Photo/ Color, Nano and Video.

wow, looks great

reading this, I ask myself, why there's no similar thing on PSP?

well, I know I could try to do it myself instead of complaining, but I just suck at programming :)

my ipod died last year(it got crushed) but i had installed an earlier release. its quite good, adds lots more functionality such as more games etc.
i have forgot the exact boot method, but it requires you to hold a button combination to boot in linux.
switching between regular and linux modes requires a system reset.

i would recommend it to everyone, as you can still use the ipod as normal, you just get more features when you wish to use them. good for showing off to friends your doom and gameboy games
