DS lite says "There is no DS card inserted." LIAR!

My Girlfriend's son has a DS Lite. Model# USG-001. No matter what game card we put in, it tell us "There is no DS card inserted."
WTH?
Any suggestions?

Probably something wrong with the contacts,either because their dirty or not making full contact.
