View Full Version : Android to challenge Symbian by 2014 claims Gartner

Android will be rivalling Symbian for smartphone market share by 2014, according to Gartner's latest predictions.
The analyst firm forecasts that in 2014, Symbian will have a 30.2% share of smartphone sales - 264.4 million units - ahead of Android's 29.6% (259.3m).
Gartner sees Apple's iOS in third place with a 14.9% market share (130.4m), followed by BlackBerry (11.7% - 102.6m) and Windows Phone (3.9% - 34.5m).
In 2014, Gartner predicts 875.6 million smartphone sales, up from 172.4 million in 2010.
This year, the company expects Symbian to take a 40.1% market share, followed by Android (17.7%), BlackBerry (17.5%), iOS (15.4%) and Windows Phone (4.7%).
