Sony's Network Operations Americas VP Eric Lempel has announced that PS3 Firmware 3.50 has released, which now adds support for Blu-ray 3D Disc Playback as well as Facebook integration and ability to report any inappropriate messages to Sony from the XMB.

Hi everyone, as we announced previously (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/15/blu-ray-3d-disc-playback-support-coming-to-playstation-3-system-next-week/), the PS3 system software update (v3.50) is adding support for Blu-ray 3D Disc Playback, and it will be released shortly.

Additional new features in the 3.50 update include:

Facebook Integration (http://www.facebook.com/dcemureviews): Developers will be able to create PS3 games that have more interaction with Facebook. Once compatible PS3 titles are available, PS3 users can choose to access public information on Facebook – including user name, profile, uploaded photos and friends list – to enhance their gameplay experience.
Grief Reporting Function: Users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users. This feature is accessible from the option menu of the messages list in the FRIENDS category.

and, as always, I presume thousands of PS3s will suddenly stop reading discs... lol

this always happens each firmware update... Sony didn't realized that yet.

nvm... not going to update.

3.15 FTW.

Seems to be another "anti-jailbreak" fw...
Any games released yet that need the 3.42 update?

False. F1 2010 is still 3.41. There's no possible way for 3.42 to be installed when the disc was in the process of being shipped out to distributors and stores. PlayStation Move launch games require 3.41. No games as of yet require 3.42 or 3.50

Yeah you are right.
I read this in psgroove.com website, but the post doesn't exist anymore lol, so it was false indeed.
