US version DS- play PAL version games?

i have just bought a Us version Ds lite, will it play PAL games? or do they have to be NTSC/US versions? Or is it universal?Thanks for your help

Yeah, all portables except the PSP have been region free. Well, you can't classify the PSP as a portable, because it's crap.
