View Full Version : Fenix 2008 CVS version- fsl.bin?

As per subject... how do I use the fsl.bin in the latest CVS version of Fenix? The earlier 2004 version uses 1st_boot.bin as the binary to run the bytecode, and I'm a bit confused by the instructions on how to use the current version. I'd like to put high score saving into my next game and from what I've read, VMU saving doesn't work in the 2004 version.

Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Fuseki,

Using CVS version is also easy. You only need the following files to create a CDI:

- fsl.bin (is the binary menu loader, like 1st_boot)
- data folder (contains some images that the boot uses)
- exec folder (contains the XML that you know how to use it).

Btw, if you use the Chui's version from his homepage, it has a serious bug with the "delete_text" function. Instead, I recommend you use this newer version:

Waiting for you new game ^^

Ok got it. So the ip.bin will boot the fsl.bin as long as the folder structure and XML info is correct?

Thanks for the bugfix. I need to jump over to the dreamcast.es forum and grab the Windows tools as well, since Chui's don't seem to want to download.

Work is progressing on my next game nicely, thank you. I'm periodically posting updates at fenixdev.blogspot.com, and should have newer screenshots up soon. Thanks!

Yep, that's it :) It will load a nice graphical menu if you have more than one game defined in the XML. If you only have one, it will load it directly.

Oh, the web page you posted before seems to not exist :(
