Here is mine which shows all the speed cameras on UK roads.

There is one file which shows every camera in the uk, but it can get quite cluttered on the screen as it also shows all the mobile speed camera locations. So I have also split the file into separate files for each kind of camera:

Gatso
Mobile
Temp
Specs
Redlight

I have also included a demo map for you to test the files out

Let me know if you find this useful

there is a lot of sites offering/selling POI's for several countries and with formats for many GPS devices...

One could make a simple tool for conversion to MapThis! POI format... I could try myself to do so but since Thats about to change its not the best timming to do so.

which kind of POI does MapThis support?

.ov2 files are recognized?

PS
i've found a nice utility to convert poi (it works even under OSX). The name is GPSBabel and can convert to many different formats. which one should i use for Mapthis?

map this uses it's own format, which is farely simple... (see the readme file)

in7ane's tool does conversion from some common formats (for those, blessed with MS windows)

thanx Deniska. i was just trying to find something that works with mac. Your application (and the in7ane one) are absolutely great, i'm just wondering if there's some way to make it closest to my platform.
Regards from Italy, everything works like a charm here.

Any joy with this? I'm on a Mac too, and am struggling to get anything other than the world map that was included in MapThis 3... there must be a way...

I'll keep hunting and let you know my findings. Let me know if you find anything...

So if i understand it right:
You always start with:
#
!IMAGE:safetycameraicon.PNG,40,20,
#

To how a .png pic on the map and:

53.46414,-2.12292,GATSO:2943,20 MPH,

53.46414,-2.12292, = GPS Position

GATSO:2943 = Type of Camera:Speed Camera Position

,20 MPH, = Maximum speed

So if i understand this correctly you could exchange the GATSO for the word CAMERA and it will write on the screen ;)

Thanks for your reply. One question though, from the article, it says "...It can be placed either in a map directory (together with the GPSFS files) or in ms0:/PSP/COMMON/. Placing a POI file in the latter directory allows you to load the POI file in every map."

I placed my _gasstations, _speedcam, and _shoppingcenters in /PSP/COMMON, but it doesn't show automatically, unless if I go to Start, POI Look Up then select _speedcam, which in this case, only _speedcam is showing. Can't I just get it to show all automatically as soon as I start the program? Does it have to be in one file?

One more, what is the purpose of MY POI file? Is it just an empty sample? or it has a purpose?

Thanks, sorry noob..

You cannot show multiple POI files at the same time, everything you want shown must be in one file. You can of course use multiple !IMAGE directives to give different icons to different POIs.

In my signature you can find an altered version of Map This!, which will automatically load POI files named _DEFAULT.

The _MY_POIS file is the file new POIs (menu -> Add POI) are written to.
