View Full Version : Update on the Sony PSP Connect Linkage

As you know i spotted (and no site thanked me but thats as normal in the PSP Scene) that PSP Connect are linking to an Homebrew site.

Now ill be 100% honest, either PSP Connect are being paid for the Linkage or its a MAJOR cock up on their side.

Sony would never allow an Homebrew site to be linked to from their pages, Sites Like IGN etc would but no site that posts and mirrors items such as an ISO loader would, So im sorry to burst anyones bubbles but i think its either an advertising space brought by the PSP site in question (most likely) or a cockup by PSP Connect.

I have personally contacted Sony to ask whats going off and as soon as i find out more you will know.

UPDATE

Seems like im right and its an ADVERT now for Sony this is a major embarassment especially if the likes of Nintendo etc get pissy with them, remember we love homebrew but no company unless they are getting cash for it wants to see their games emulated on a rivals handheld.

If Sony are happy to publically back homebrew then theres gonna be a whole load of trouble. Its gonna be an interesting week :D

Lol. Cockup is probably one of the most English phrases you can get.

Anyway , back on topic , they obviously bought the ad space. Sony wouldn't "accidentally" link to a homebrew site for no reason.

Yep were in Sony's World now. The PSP is East Germany with the wall up and the Firmware is the wall. Sony want's to keep us all walled up in their world with it's limited vision and lack of freedom.

I doubt sony create their own websites or look after the ads their sites carry themselves, this all looks to be a storm in some lazy advertising agency workers teacup.

oh, and in case no one noticed this, there is now a linkback to psp.connect.com from the *site in question*in their featured content section.... http://psp.connect.com/?cid=**, as well as I can't seem to find the article about it now on that site.

this is just funny... (You can't handle the truth!) ;)

I should have known sony wouldnt back homebrew (especially on a site with loaders) if they had picked this site it would have been more belivable oh well the battle goes on.

Sony aren't stupid they know that PSPupdates is a homebrew site and still they chose to advertise it PSPupdates didnt pay or even ask for their site to be advertised how can this be an error noone accidentily advertises a site that they are quite frankly supposed to hate there's something weird goin on

Hats off, Wragg! This thread (and the previous one) have truly been amusing. The funny thing is that no one, not even you, have had the simple logic to realize exactly what is going on.

Wrong on both counts. Can't wait for your next over-exagerrated theory. This really isn't as big of a deal as you'd like to make it out to be... but then you have had a problem with sensationalizing "news" lately (if that's what you want to call it).

Also funny how you haven't tried to contact me or anyone else at QJ about it either... but thanks for tossing lots of traffic to us and PSP Connect! :)

It seems to me that wraggster is just pissed because they linked to a rival site, and not this one.

Also that site condones illegal iso use, say what you will about iso loaders on that site, but people have a right to make backups of their games and be able to play those backups.

I used to like this site as well but that other site will always be set as my homepage!

I don't care, I still believe there is hope for homebrew!!!

I find it ironic that most people going to pspconnect would be browsing the web through a 2.X+ psp wich means most of them cant use a lot of the homebrew avaliable anyway. as the canadidians would say "Ironic eh?"

This is just an add. No more, no less. I poked around and was told that its JUST an add. Sorry to disappoint everyone. Seems it was chosen at random from a list of top viewed/visited PSP sites actually.

Would Sony really put a homebrew page ad on their site... :(

Wraggster brings up a serious question for the whole community. Which is "Is this a indication that Sony is going to support Homebrew?". This has no bearing on what site it was. However as was pointed out pspupdates does feature iso loaders and their ilk which Sony has been very active in combating. Personally I think iso's are perfectly acceptable for games you own. My PSP fits perfectly in my pocket with just it's sleeve. Trying to carry a larger case and multiple disc's is just unduely burdensome in the face of what the PSP is capable of. I hope this is truly Sony taking the Homebrew community seriously and working with us but I remain skeptical.

This is funny. Imagine you just bought a psp, 2.5 stock. You got some games so you updated to 2.6 Now you´ve heard about the firmware update so you head over to psp connect. You are just about to hit the update firmware link but then you notice the pspupdates link. You spend some time reading some articles and stuff. So now the big question. do you go back to psp connect to update your firmware?
Lol, I don´t think so.

August 28th, 2006, 01:45
That's a good point aries2k4. That's why I thought Sony wouldn't let them advertise on their site...

A) How do you know they didnt pay
B) You use the company name sony as if your talking about a singular person, Sony are a huge frikkin company with a LOT of people working for them. They would pay a web development company to design their site, its not like the CEO is sitting there whipping up html for every sony site himself.

I really cannot see this in any way as sony consciously approving of homebrew.
