GUI Development

I just want to know the basics of GUI development from anyone, i know my way around C and some C++ and just need some help to get started

I would recommend looking at some Open Source GUI projects and documents such as CEGUI. Ideally you need to be experienced in the design of code more then anything and areas such as callbacks/function pointers and event systems.
