I SCREWED MY PSP, I USED THEME PSP CREATER AND I MADE A FEW THEMES, AND THERE WAS THIS CERTAIN THEME THAT I MADE THAT HAD MOSTLY A WHITE BACKROUND, NOW THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TEXT ON THE MENU(GAME, VIDEOS,MUSIC,PHOTOS,SETTING) WERE ALL IN WHITE TEXT, AND I COULDN'T REALLY READ THAT WITH MY NEW WHITE BACKROUND, SO I DELETED THOSE FIELDS ON PSPMENU EDIT, THINKING THAT ONLY THE DESCRIPTIONS WOULD DISAPEAR AND ONLY SHOW THE ICONS OF GAME, VIDEO, ETC. NOW WHEN I START MY PSP IT BOOTS UP ALL THE WAY TO MY NEW BACKROUND, WITH NO MENU LOL OOOPS =(, i dun know if that means its bricked but i dun know what to do, plz help XD

Here is a really awesome theme made by shadow. It came from a diiferent psp site. I'm not sure if it's DCemu's Shadow-evillink or not. I'll check into that and let everybody know. It only came with a background and fonts. So I added :

-Custom bootsound "Initializing Startup Sequnce" (thanks mrdlouisd :) )
- (legal) pop slash gameboot.
-removed the XMB's wavy lines, just as shadow intended this for theme.

Thanks shadow! I think our forum members will enjoy this!

shad0w- Nice to see you on the forums. :) Sorry about the mis spell of your name. And thanks for clearing that up for us. I would just like to say that you make the nicest themes for PSP I've ever seen. Your work is absolutly amazing. :D This thread is kinda old though bro. I am no longer adding to or updating it. (Others feel free to download, add, ect... if you like) It's nothing against this site, but IMHO it is really pointless to host a custom themes thread, unless the themes are truelly custom. Without custom gameboots (which are against DCEmu policy) then it just seems to kill the excitment in it for me. However when I eventually get the time, I plan on reuploading all these themes to www.zionmax.com, updated with custom gameboots.

Oh, btw, are there any plans for a sqweek-E-clean v3 ? (I can't get enough of your art man :D )

I'm not sure why your sig ain't showing. Maybe its too big? I came acroos your bg's b/c I am online scouring the web for PSP related stuff about 20 - 30 hours a week. ;) And like I said, your work is the most impressive I've seen.

December 4th, 2006, 22:43
I have a 1.5 and a couple nice backgrounds I made in ps Ill share in a minute. My questions are...
Will this work in the original xmb or just the emulated devhook xmb? Does the background image still have to be 300 x 170 like with psp personalize? Thanks for any help you can give.

Heres some backgrounds I made that you are free to use, you'll only see them here. ;).
(note:some googled pics were used) I also have their templates is anyones interested making their own.

Alien Themes

There are 2 themes. They are similar but everything about them is a bit different from each other. I just ended up with 2 of everything. :p

New stuff includes custom made backgrounds, bootsounds, and fonts. I left the lines for the spacey effect but I didn't change any of the names. Credits are all in the readme.

Sharkey
December 5th, 2006, 21:53
Yeah I think I have always had that problem, even when I used psppersonalize. i could especially tell with the quake port, the icons and pics are black. Everything works fine though.

I have the black theme set on my psp and when i change months the background is all white. Is this normal? and changed back to dec. and everything looks good? but i really want thta black theme can someone please help?

Sharkey
December 8th, 2006, 20:47
How are you changing the months? Maybe the wallpaper is just set up for December? Make sure it is named "BG" and it should work any months. If it is called 12, it will only work in Dec.

@Labowl, I figured out the problem with everyone getting those fuzzy icons. They were originally gifs that were converted to pngs so they have a limited color pallette and will show up messed up when you use a background image. Any ones that I have made from gifs all look like that, the ones I made that were bmps, jpegs, or already pngs work fine.

Basically just make a new icon for it and it should be fine as long as the original image wasn't a gif.

I am using 1.5 and I have the problem with the Black Theme only being available for the month I installed the theme, if I move the date to another month it shows up white, but in the theme folder its called BG. Is this because 1.5 PSP don't support user defined BG images unless they are flashed to it?

I don't know why it would ever show up white, by default most months have a dedicated color even if you didn't set a background image.

I'm new with this, but when I used pspersonalize you had to do it manually every month but supposedly this program does it for you. If you want them to change every months you make 12 and number them 01 - 12, if you want the same one you name it BG.

I'm not sure why it is messing up on you, you could try a couple different things. The hard way would be to make 12 copies of that background and name them 01 - 12 and add them all to the folder and see if that works.

Or to get a completely new image, show the picture in its true size in windows picture viewer, ms paint, or photoshop and take a screenshot of it. Crop it to it's original size of 300 x 170 and save it as a png named BG in the same folder you got the original.

It's possible that the image is not the correct bit, like say it used to be a gif and was converted to png using a paint program but still has the limited color palette, that will cause problem with images I have noticed, doing this may fix it but it probably won't. :p

That's about all I can do for you, I'm stumped myself.

@gamerremag, Thanks. :)

I thought of that, since I did use PSPersonalize once and had to procure 12 BGs for it; I was just wary of it since I didn't want to end up with a brick. I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens.

Edit: Got it to work, however it does display the white screen still, but I need to change the month again to get it working again; I remember I had this problem after using PSPersonalize and that may have been the problem all along, don't know though, thanks for your help anyway :)

Can enyone upload some hot gameboots?

No, they are illegal. They are made using tools from Sony that were stolen from them. Until some coder figures a way to make a program to create custom gameboots without needing Sony's program, they will forever remain illegal.

December 13th, 2006, 14:16

There actually is a legal way to make the psp gameboots. Ever wonder how IRshell 3.0 has its own gameboots that weren't created using the Sony Dev tools? Ahman or Stonecut might know....

jak66
December 21st, 2006, 23:01
there is no legal way to make gameboots, the iR Shell gameboots were made with Sony's leaked tools thus they are illegal and also one reason why the iR Shell gameboots were not included in the 3.0 download (other reason was to save space)

Mr. Shizzy

Is it possible to remove the XMB wavy lines on firmware 2.80? (Without setting an image as a wallpaper.)

splodger15
December 22nd, 2006, 10:16
No i think the only way to remove it is flashing and since there i no flashing options for 2.80.

Basically no you can't

carboycam
December 22nd, 2006, 15:53
Splodger, you CAN flash on 2.80. Checkout DeviantPSP.com. They created Deviant Flash for 2.80. Also, PSP Filer can be used to flash things Deviant Flash can't.

I have saved a 'system_plugin_bg.rco' file (one with XMB lines disabled) to my PC. I have been wondering if it would work on 2.80 or just brick the PSP.

splodger15
December 22nd, 2006, 16:01

splodger15
December 22nd, 2006, 16:20
But you would rather someone else get a brick

carboycam
December 22nd, 2006, 16:32
Well no, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried it. (And would you be able to test this theory in DevHook? Then someone else can test it without risking a brick.)

splodger15
December 22nd, 2006, 16:36
Some one with 1.5 could test this in devhook

carboycam
December 22nd, 2006, 16:44
Cool. If you know anyone with a 1.50 and DevHook, would you be kind enough to ask for their help? (I have the 'system_plugin_bg.rco' file from the SOCOM theme.)

What happen was i installed devhook.51, and downloaded this program again. it worked the first few times until it suddenly stop working. i'm stuck at devil's may cry opening. right before the char kick the screen, it hangs, and switches off by itself. I've tried formatting my memory stick and reuse the programs, devhook 0.44 (the one i use to use before switching to 0.51), and i'm still stuck at the opening scene.

Can someone pls help me, have i bricked it? its a gift from my gf, and i cannot afford to buy another one, though the price has drop its still too expensive for me. please help.

im just a 16 year old kid and my mum recently got me a psp...
i got a psp model-1000 with 3.1- oe-1 system software
i just stumbled upon the "theme" icon in my settings and thought it would be cool to download some from the internet.

however, i read the threadstarter's warning about using an "automatic downgrader" for the psp that might cause the theme program to brick my psp.

i sent my psp to the shop to have it downgraded so i could play vice city stories from my memory stick instead of having to buy an umd.

im worried that the shopkeeper might have used an "automatic downgrader" for my psp. is there any way for me to find out?

btw, i didnt understand the threadstarter when he said "put the theme installer into your psp"

am i supposed to make a new folder in the psp?

im just a 16 year old kid... i dont learn technology in my school : ( pls dont flame me for asking so many question on my first post:(

yo help me .. where do i put themepsp in my psp?

Not-Recommended:
if your running on 3.03 OE - 3.40 OE

just go in your ms0:/PSP/Games/ folder and paste it... if your on 3.30 OE and lower and if it dosent work, make a new folder in ms0:/PSP/ called Game150 now put the game in ms0:/PSP/Game150
Then install it. 45/100 chance of bricking

Non-Brickable way:

Download devhook and install it. (use google because most of the time the readme is corrupted.)

now connect your psp and go to ms0:/PSP/Games and put the theme thing in there...
viola! now you run devhook and set the firmware to 1.50 and then you can have fun with no bricks!

ok, if you have custom firmware(you should). use the recovery menu.(Take battery out, put back battery back in,turn psp on while holding R triggger, blue screen should come up,DONE) Then go to the 3.03oe-3.40oe recovery pack totorial in the root of the thread. Follow the tutorial and you should be back with 1.5 firmware. Reload up to 3.40oe-a or whatever custom firmware and you are done.YAY

How many posts in a row was that? I make it 4. And you bumped a several day old topic with a completely unrelated question. Because of this I'm not even going to both answering your question. (what was it anyway? - something about how to downgrade 3.11?)

EDIT: Fine, I'll tell you. Update to 3.50 using the official sony updater then look around for a 3.50 downgrader using the lumines exploit. Happy?
