Doesnt look as nice as Bomberman 95 on the pc engine...

Looses a lot of it's style in 3D.

I have the Japanese version of this game. While I agree, its not the same as the 2D Super Bomberman (SNES) it is definitely BomberMan.

The new power-up system is different. When you collect power-ups like extra bombs, bigger flame, rollerskates (speed), etc. they get stored and you can manually select which power-ups you want to activate. Neat concept but kind of annoying during gameplay to have to be worried about doing that.

I think the game is worth it if you like BomberMan even in the least bit, especially if you have friends/family to play multiplayer with. A shame though, this is another game I would have liked to see infrastructure multiplayer with.

My all-time favorite is Super Bomberman on the SNES - The multiplayer mayhem that ensued with that game was insane.

Bomberman Generations for the GameCube is pretty good also.
