Hi All,

Here is a new version of PSPAtari the emulator of Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE and 5200 series.

What's new in version 1.0.5 :

- Emulator menus reorganisation (new menu for settings)
- Icons and background images modification (add colors)
- New feature to save and load a distinct setting file for each games
- Speed limiter option
- Delete files option (in the file selector)
- Speed improvement
- Screenshots are now saved in PNG format instead of BMP
- Bug fix

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

For those who wonder how to use 5200 Roms :

You have to load them using the original atari800 emulator menu
(the yellow "Atari800 menu" option in the emulator window).

Select "Cartridge management" then "Insert cartridge" and specify your disk image file,
then choose the cartridge type 5200, and go back to the emulator using LTrigger.

Enjoy, :)

Zx.

H.E.R.O. for Atari 5200 is unplayable. The second fire button doesn't work.

ZX, how do you play BASIC roms such as Floyd of the Jungle. Is there a certain system you need to use, or do I need to insert the BASIC cartridge + hold down OPTION....any helpwould be greatly appreciated.

This can be found in the yellow Atari800 menu,
scroll down to Emulator Configuration, then circle
Disable BASIC when booting Atari is default on Yes, change this to No using Circle
use LTrigger to go back, then go to Reboot (Cold Start)
and press Circle
You load the disk as usual before you do this, it should boot right as a regular XL without holding Option.

Thank you. I've fooled around with that menu ad nauseum, but I must have overlooked that option. Duh.

The individual game settings oughta come in handy.

Is the sound better? Or is it still scratchy?

This is close to my favorite A800 emu right next to the GP2X version which has good sound.

I really wanna use the PSP for the better controls, but my ears just can't take it.. :(

Is the sound better? Or is it still scratchy?

Since 1.0.3 or so it's a lot better (as in playable) but it's still not 100%

It reminds me a bit of those "volume boost" options in other emulators, it can also have to do with the POKEY combine-channel option.

The next Atari800 release on sourceforge will have a totally reworked sound emulation (right now sourceforge has the old POKEY and the HiFi POKEY, the latter is not supported in PSPAtari). Perhaps it's better to wait for Atari800 v2.1 or so to do a lot of work on the sound emulation.

See http://atari800.sourceforge.net/ for more information on the 'base' code.

Cool update... I'm not still totally happy of the Pokey emulation but.. it's getting better ;-)

And nice to see that you restarted your emus quest...

What about Hatari (open source, 99% SDL, best non-windows-only ST emu) ? Did you have time to look at it ?
v0.90 was released a few weeks ago, cool improvements.

ZX-81,

To boot up 5200 roms, I am following your directions (Atari 800 Menu/Cartridge Management/Insert Cart, etc.), but when I get back to the game screen, I cannot do anything with it (the game is a Star Wars Death Star Battle game).

On a Star Trek game, I follow the same loading procedure (expect when I select the 5200 cartridge, I have to choose a "2 chip 16KB 5200 cartridge"), and when I tap "L" on the PSP , I get to the main game screen, but cannot get past the screen.

I apologize if I am overlooking something obivious, but is there any advice you could give me?
