Yeah it will be greater I mean the emulator is great right now and it can only be greater from this point on. Anyways, I'm bored when is that thing going to come out?

How Do I Make This Work On A 2.60 PSP?

September 29th, 2006, 04:44
Hi all, does anyone know how to get Pokemon - Mystery Dungeon - Red Rescue Team to work on GPSP v. 0.7, I tried the regular ROM and it loads but the screen stays blue so I patched it with the IPS file but I still get the blue screen and I noticed that there was a SAV file of 64kb in my ROMS folder for this game so I tried loading it with the flash 64kb setting (because I've been setting it to 128kb) and I still get a blue screen. The ROM works perfect on VBA for PC by the way but I don't know why it doesn't work on the PSP so if anyone has any suggestions that be great...thanx for your time.

couple of games don't work, but so far this is the greatest gba emu for psp at the moment until they release an update

did you guys check your MB size on the roms?? remeber, if its over 16 megs, it will not work. and i think pokemon mystery dungeon, is 32 megs..i think.

Yeah it is- I just ran into the same problem :( Those damn nintendo *******s probably did this on purpose!

Is there anyway to play games that are bigger than 16mb yet or maybe in a future release........?

Future maybe, as of right now, no.

has it been tested if you can trim roms so that they can be small enough to play?

Hopefully we will see bigger rom support soon. Because it would be kind of kool to have those GBA video's working =P

yeah i no i had problems too, why they can't be in the same zip file is just stupid! BUT i LOVE this emulator omg it works perfectly - well 99.99% - type in something like gameboy_advance_bios in google or something like that it should work !!!!!

PSP NOOB - V2.60 - 2.60 !!!! WANNA DOWNGRADE BUT - Don't know whether to use 2.60 downgrader or 2.71 downgrader !!! WHICH IS EASIER ?

Please don't spam the forums with such unnecessary posts.

As far as the zip support goes, I never found things like that important, as I usually don't have time to zip my roms XD.

Although I would like to see bigger size compatability support for games such as kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories.

Also Save States, and Cheat support would be nice also. I know a few games, that were fun to have cheats on. Like Metroid Fusion, having all those flying cheats in the beginning of the game is always fun.

actually , fior zip support isnt it better to unzip it anyways since when you use zip games in the emu, it still has to unzip it in your card?

I don't understand what you're saying. About the zip files. Are you asking why multiple ROMs can't be in the same zip file? There are a lot of good reasons why.. that aside, have you ever actually seen an emulator that allows something like this?

Anyway.. no amount of ROM trimming is going to make a 32MB ROM 16MB, unless you hack out something big (like perhaps the videos from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, I don't know how much that'd take it down.. but I doubt that's worth anyone's time). If it does then the game developers seriously screwed up because a 32MB cart over a 16MB one is significantly cutting into their profits. You see a lot of games using nothing more than a 512 EEPROM for saving so of course they're going to cut it as close as they can when it comes to cart size (well, most of the time).

yea i was mad at the fact they weren't working lol:p but if they work in the next version is it possible some1 can make a program to make full movies into .gba format cuz they take waay less space than the most compressed mpegs

Even though GBA video was very pixeley =P

I think I'll stick to PMP for now. Its just I remember they ported Shrek 2 to the GBA, and I would be surprised if I could literally have a 32 mega bite move on my PSP XD.

God would have to save me though if I even tried to bear full screen =O

I'm quite sure it was asked before but I think gpSP would really benefit of a better screen resize option.
I just can't stand bilinear filtering in scalled and fullscreen mode as it looks too blurry. But original screen mode is just too small for my eyes. Would it be possible to include a simple 2x mode with the top and the bottom cropped or shrinked like in Homer's rin ?
Anyway, Exophase, as most people I really enjoy your proggy, please keep up the good work.

This is a great emu idk see whay your putting it down. Do you have a better version? Then you dont got room to talk =P

The version is good, it runs most games very well (the 32mb games...sad alot of good ones.) The main thing that I like is that it runs pokemon emerald. The screen resizes very well if you know how to use the emu (R+L+triangle then right opens a menu during a game).

Things to improve...
Menu - Very hard to get around (check out dgen, best menu out there)
Games - 32mb games/movies....need to be playable (not at fullspeed, but try for that =P)
File Layout - Saves dont go into a save folder...files look messy...

Anywho...Idk why there are 2 versions here because you can combine them easly and have full speed with great compatability (Thank god I understood that...some games are only playable on the compatability version)
I might put that version out soon with a custom icon and sounds...along with a readme etc.

Great job

I'm blown away by this and by the n64 emulator. Thank you so much. I didn't think emulation of either system at such good speeds on the psp would ever be possible. Is there anyway to voluntarily donate money to your project via paypal to help compensate you for all the time you've obviously dedicated to this?

A) Very appreciated. [email protected] on PayPal. <3

Dear santa, please give exophase the power to come out with a new version with >16mb rom support soon.

This emulator rocks, thanks to Exophase!

Does anyone know how to use the in game save mode in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow? I can't seem to save at all using 128k or 64k Flash. The "Sleep" feature is out of the question as well.

Edit: Ok let me be a little more detailed.
So when I'm in a save room, I save and I see the animation and everything. But after that I couldn't use the "sleep" function (quick save) it says something like "You need to have saved once in a save room to do this"

So I gave that up, quit gpsp via the menu. Load back Castlevania and the only thing I cna do is start a new game, none of the saved data existed. This also happens with Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance.

Help!

To access the menu, you actually don't have to hold L and R. You just hold Triangle and press Right on the D-Pad :) Now moving on to more serious matters:

**The rest of this post contains spoilers for Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. If you have not played it, and don't wish to see any spoilers, please refrain from reading ahead**

First of all, I'll say this emulator is coming along pretty nicely. The Minish Cap runs pretty smoothly in most areas on no higher than a frameskip of 2, and I've only run into a couple of problems. The first is pretty minor, as you don't run into it very often, but anytime two light sources collide, theres some kind of graphical glitch on the right side of the collision with the background being warped and some kind of yellow stitch pattern. The major problem I ran into was the Temple of Droplets boss battle, against the Octorok. Everything is fine until the Octorok changes to its second form, where you have to use the Flame Lantern to burn its tail. If you don't have the frameskip at 3 or over, your PSP has a 99% chance of crashing when you use it. At frameskip of 3 it works pretty nicely until the bosses fifth form, where it makes the room pitch black. You're basically forced to use the lantern to see and survive, and even at a frameskip of 15, it will crash no matter what when you have the lantern on. I've seen a few crashes, here they are:

Sorry for this question, but I couldn't seem to find a better thread to post it =P

Anyway I played CastleVania Aria of Sorrow for the first time, and beat the game on this gpSP emulator. And I have to say the game was truly phenomenal.

Now my question is, is there any other Castle Vania game, that competes with this one, on the GBA?

Tried that game, after I rented it from Block Buster, to see if it was any good, before I bought it and backed it up. I was not too impressed with it, because it did not have that Castle Vania SOTN feel like Aria of Sorrow did.

And the sprites were disgusting on Castle Vania Circle of the moon =O
