I was all for finally entering the current console generation by buying a cheap second hand wii, to connect to the downstairs pal widescreen tv (nothing special) but I have been finding alot of forums stating that some games such as zelda look terrible and blurred out on the pal machine when compared to ntsc, even when both systems are using component cables:-

Heres the NTSC (US) zelda on an NTSC machine using the official component cable :-

...compared to the far blurrier PAL (EU) wii using PAL zelda, with an official component cable:-

Some forums state that not all pal consoles or games may be affected and give a poorer display than ntsc? Even a composite cable used with an ntsc machine to connect to the same tv seems to give a better quality than a pal machine connected using a component cable, which is tragic, since component is supposed to be far better than composite, but I am trying to find out how bad it really is> do I have no choice but to get an ntsc machine for better quality? The only thing I can think of to try and get better quality with pal would be to try and connect a pal wii with pal zelda to a widescreen using either an s-video or rgb cable instead (instead of using composite or component) but Im not sure if either cables are available for the machine? RGB is supposed to be the best, but id doubt RGB cables will help if its the consoles hardware causing the problem. If its not the pal consoles hardware being inferior to ntsc, Im wondering if pal games on an ntsc machine would blur as in my screenshots, if there was a way for the wii to play imports as with the gamecubes "freeloader"? Or if the only way to get rid of the blur would be to simply buy ntsc games to play on an ntsc machine?

Thanks for any help :)
