According to Consumer Board in Finland, Sony should pay up 100 euros to a console owner (http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2011/04/21/sony_should_pay_100_to_man_for_otheros_removal_con sumer_board_says) for OtherOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OtherOS) removal. The board said that the removal of OtherOS crippled console features that were present at the time of purchase and agreed that consumers should be compensated. Sony tried to point out that the user agreed to the PS3 EULA, but the consumer board noted that such agreements can't go around consumer laws."http://games.slashdot.org/story/11/04/23/031220/Sony-Should-Pay-For-OtherOS-Removal-Says-Finnish-Board

Dunno about $100 and obviously it's never gonna happen that they pay anyone back because Sony's all about the legal loopholes these days, but yeah basically they sold you a computer with limited usage freedom, and with a single forced FW upgrade you ended up with a locked-down console, now just out of curiosity does MS have that power in it's Windows EULA? Obviously they not stupid enough to do something like that but just makes you wonder how much control you have over software on your own devices.

But I think the point is that EULAs are not rock solid and really have to be tested in court.
