The forthcoming Hitman sequel reportedly in development at IO Interactive could be called Hitman: Absolution, judging by a new trademark listing (http://esearch.oami.europa.eu/copla/trademark/data/009910341) filed by publisher Square Enix.
Logged by the publisher's European arm and spotted by Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/04/22/hitman-absolution-sounds-like-the-name-for-hitman-5/), the listing is for "computer game software".
Hitman 5 hasn't been officially unveiled yet, though an IO source told us last year that the game was in development and would be out by Christmas 2011"at the very earliest" (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/hitman-5-out-xmas-2011-at-the-earliest).
An ARG game hosted on the series' forum earlier this year threw up a possible screenshot (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-21-first-hitman-5-screenshot-revealed) from the expected sequel.
The last game in the stealth series, Hitman: Blood Money, came out in 2006 on PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Xbox 360, scoring 8/10 from Eurogamer's Kristan Reed.
"Blood Money is a fine addition to the Hitman series," he wrote (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/r_hmbm_x360), "boasting significant improvements that make it not only a more rounded, slicker affair, but a more enjoyable one in the long run."
