Retail sales of games, accessories and consoles in the US fell ten per cent year-on-year in June, NPD data shows.

Sales of consoles alone totalled $366.6m during the month, compared to $401.7m generated during the same period last year.

Software sales accumulated $469.5m – a dip of 12 per cent year-on-year – down from $531.3m last year. And sales of accessories fell from $177.7m to $158.9m year-on-year, a drop of 11 per cent.

Overall the US games market generated $1.03bn at retail last month, a ten per cent drop compared to last year’s $1.15bn.

L.A. Noire was the top-selling game in June ahead of Duke Nukem Forever at No.2 and Infamous 2 at No.3.

This NPD data does not account for digitally downloaded games, pre-owned sales, mobile games, social network games or rentals.

9. Cars 2 (Disney)
10. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
