Hi All,

Here is a new version of PSPSim the SamCoupé Emulator for PSP.

For those who haven't seen previous versions, SimCoupe emulates
a SamCoupé - an 8-bit, Z80-based home computer released in 1989
by Miles Gordon Technology.

For more information on the machine itself, including history and technical
specification you can go on the SimCoupe web site (http://www.simcoupe.org).

Many thanks to Mr Nick666 for his graphics and settings files.

What's new in version 1.0.3 :

- Icons and background images designed by Mr Nick666
- Emulator menus reorganisation (new menu for settings)
- The percent of battery left is now displayed in the emulator window
- Add a watchdog to automatically return to the emulator menu
when the battery is very low (< 5%)
- New feature to save and load a distinct setting file for each games
- Add keyboard change skin option
(you can add your own virtual keyboard images in the graphics directory).
- Delete files option (in the file selector)
- Screenshots are now saved in PNG format instead of BMP

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

Enjoy, :D

Zx.

alright, alright, since i was so cruel, if someone recommends some good games, i'll give it a try. arent there only a 100 or so games for this thing anyway?

i was still wondering if ZX was ever going to consider making a ZX Spectrum (hell, why not include the zx81 as well?! - he has stolen its name!) emulator.... given the problems with the pSpectrum release and the difficulty in even getting to speak to the author HexDump, it'd be nice to see a bit of healthy competition for "best speccy emu" :)

JSW was possibly the 1st real platform games it certainly set the standard.

I will have a look on this one also ... but i don't promise anything since i've only two hands lol.

Yes, you're right, pspuae is nice but it can be seriously improved (interface, and speed) ... I will may be port/develop my own version, using the 68k CPU emulator stuff from TI-92 ...

Matthew Smith had almost zero colour clash in Spectrum Manic Miner! - as if you didnt know! The SAM version is a very accurate port just with full colour and two sets of twenty extra levels! :D

that thing uses a 68k core?? you've gotta be kidding me??!

would you allow pspuae devs to look at using that core instead of the current one?

i'll confess i'm not exactly pleased you'd want to "go it alone" - esp. when there is already much happening in the pspuae development, and just as some interesting things are starting to be done with the emualtor... i do think your talents and experience would add much to the development of any amiga emulator.

curiously, would you look at e-uae or uae4all? pspuae is based on e-uae, and Ric did port uae4all, but apparently with no improvements when running on the psp.

sorry to go wildly off-topic, Mr Nick, if you could send me a "Sam Starter Pack" it'd be much appriciated!

All those source code are GNU, so everybody is welcome to improve it and release the new code ... ;)

well ric just gave me this reply at my mention of it on www.pspuae.com

The TI-92 emulator uses the 68K core from UAE

have you tweaked yours in any way?

i'd be really grateful if you'd pop over to www.pspuae.com forum and have a chat with some of the guys (ric, FOL, MrModem) about the matter. imho it's good to have open and honest discussion about psp emulators, since everyone is looking for the same gain in the long run... it's not an ideal situation me acting as a go-between!

I've spent two nights on it to fix a bug (that gave computation errors on the ti92  ).
But UAE uses a more recent version, so may be the bug have been fixed on their source code ...

Yes, why not ... but for the moment i've got many other projects to work on ;)

Amiga is based on a 68k ...

i forgot to say... this i know well-enough thanks! by "that thing" i meant the TI ... i mean, the 68k is a beautiful beast, and somewhat elaborate for a calculator!

of course, just hoping that the knowledge can be shared where possible, to help keep things ticking along nicely. i realise that maybe devising a whole new psp amiga emu (if thats what you really plan to do then i dont envy the task!) would be a lot to take on on-top of all your other emualtors you have in development. Emualting the best computer ever-devised on a humble PSP is never going to be a easy !

Mailed Simon Owen (the creator of SIMcoupe) about implimenting a save feature and he said:

It's been the most requested feature since v1.0 has been released! I still need to juggle a few things around to make it possible, but it is planned for the next update. Support for input recoding is related to that change too, so I hope to allow RZX files for SAM titles shortly afterwards.

Hi Nick,

Sorry, but i don't think the source is freely available, and anyway, actually i haven't enough spare time to develop anything on PSP :o :o :o
