hi ive heard loads of rumors of the dump used in the new 2.71->1.5 downgrader will brick your psp in time through errors and wotnot and many sites including www.psphacking101.com (http://www.psphacking101.com) (see episode 19)

talk about a resonably lengthy process of upgrading to 2.0 using the official sony eboot and then downgrading using the good old origional mph downgrader. and then installing the official 1.5 eboot so that you had a fresh and clean install of the version 1.5 firmware. and i remembered that all that does is trick your psp into thinking its a 1.00 and theres an ancient app out there that does that on 1.5 and saves you the whole upgrading to 2.0 step.

its called "sony x team version changer v2.02" and what it can do is trick your psp into thinking its a 1.00 the same as the 2.0->1.5 method does and i thought hey lets give it a go and it wokred on my psp twice and it didnt bring up a blue corrupt screen as all of the other downgrade methods do (i assume this is because my psp was alredy on version 1.5).

so all you need to do is:

1. get sxt firmware changer v2.02......(here) (http://www.sonyxteam.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=6)

2. run it on your psp and press x to fool your psp into thinking its a 1.00

3. then get a copy of the 1.5 official sony eboot (here) (http://www.psphacks.net/files/PSPFirmwares/1.5/) put it in ms0:PSP/GAME/UPDATE

4. run the 1.5 update...... it will crash at 99% and give an error message....

5. hard reboot your psp by holding the power button.

6. et voila you have a fresh official copy of the 1.5 sony firmware.

i would think this could also be used to remove firmare modifications and such as dark alexes custom firmware and other firmware alterations such as fonts, icons ect ect.

thanks to sony x team for the app and the file host for the 1.5 eboot file.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Even though i have tested this there is still the possibility it may damage your PSP.I advise you to follow the steps carefully and cautiously. I am in no way responsible for bricked PSP's.
