We knew good and well it was coming (http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/12/atandt-launches-sony-ericsson-xperia-play-with-blue-color-option/), and come it has. Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play (http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/28/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-review/) has made the natural GSM shift in the States in order to grace Ma Bell's airwaves, and despite the "4G" naming convention, this fellow will be topping out at HSPA+. In other words, LTE lovers will need to look elsewhere (http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/27/exclusive-htc-holiday-for-atandt-in-the-wild-4g-lte-1-2ghz-4/). This marks the first launch of a PlayStation-certified smartphone for AT&T, and given that it's been around the block a time or two, the carrier is (smartly) pricing it at just $49.99 on a two-year contract -- a buck-fifty less than what it launched for (http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/17/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-hits-verizon-for-200-on-contract/) on Verizon Wireless. As we'd heard, it'll ship with Android 2.3.3, a 1GHz CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, a 4-inch display (854 x 480) and will arrive in an exclusive 'stealth blue' hue. AT&T customers will also be blessed with a gratis Multimedia Dock (DK300) and MC100 music cable, not to mention seven pre-loaded games at no charge. Full details on that are hosted up after the break, and interested consumers can line up to grab their own on September 18th.

I was considering an Xperia Play, but come on, a Snapdragon & Adreno 205? in Smartphone terms they belong with the Dinosaurs, so i'm gonna wait for a gaming phone that isn't already outdated 6 months before it's released because most games released on that thing are also released for normal Android anyway.

I know it's outdated but I got it for a fairly good price, it's not like I could get some dual core monster atm. In the end this thing is all about the gaming controls and emus hehe. I also like the word snapdragon for some reason

It's just that extortionate £500 release price for something that's cobbled together from the X10 and other cheaper phones with a cheap plastic game controller replacing a keyboard that put me off, i mean i realised it probably doesn't have the spec to be upgraded to many future Android OS's & struggle to get much further with emulation, so just realised the temptation of game controls isn't enough to carry around a mediocre Smartphone.
