A number of reports are claiming that EA last night announced at a Las Vegas showcase that the recently revealed new Syndicate title will be released in February 2012.
That’s a lot earlier than most had expected, particularly seeing as the sequel was only officially confirmed earlier this month (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/new-syndicate-game-finally-confirmed/084545).
Coming in the wake of Deus Ex’s worldwide chart success, it’s perhaps no surprise to see the title described as “a unique and brutal sci-fi first-person shooter experience set in a not too distant future, where business is war”.
The original Syndicate debuted on PC in 1993 courtesy of Peter Molyneux’s UK studio Bullfrog. It took the form of an isometric, real-time RPS where players took charge of a group of four genetically enhanced cyborgs, out to fight for their owning corporation.
This new game perhaps takes the obvious route in shunning the staples of the series and instead going down the first person shooter route.
