Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and er, Pac-Man lead massive Xbox 360 charge in Japan
At its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference this morning, Microsoft showed further support for the Xbox 360 in Japan, by showcasing a library of 110 titles that will be available this Christmas.
A panel of graphically-spectacular RPGs headed-up the line-up, including Mistwalker's stat-happy duo, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, Namco Bandai's newly-announced (and questionably-named) Trusty Bell and the gorgeous looking Infinite Undiscovery from Microsoft Game Studios.
"The key to winning the hearts and minds of the Japanese market is great games, and this great line-up demonstrates that Xbox 360 has those games in spades," said Peter Moore, speaking at the conference. "Our line-up of role-playing games from the acknowledged masters of the genre is proof positive that there has never been a better time for Japanese gamers to jump in and pick up an Xbox 360 system."
There's still wide scepticism surrounding Microsoft's chances in the Japan, which is backed-up by the fact that its next-gen console was recently outsold by the Nintendo GameCube in the country. Still, showing no signs of giving-up the big M announced today that for a limited time it will bundle PGR3 and Phantagram's Ninety-Nine Nights for free with every Japanese Xbox 360. Let's see if that spikes sales.
Additionally, Microsoft and Namco Bandai also announced the Pac-Man World Championship, which will apparently pit the worldwide top-10 Pac-Man Live Arcade players against each other early next year. We're already practicing our munching skills...
