Sony has confirmed that going forward, all first-party games will use the PSN Pass (http://gamepolitics.com/2011/10/04/sony-all-future-multiplayer-capable-games-will-use-psn-pass) to force used game buyers to pay an extra $10 just for the right to play (http://www.destructoid.com/confirmed-online-passes-for-all-future-online-sony-games-212882.phtml) the multiplayer component of used games they buy for the PS3.
