1up is running a piece looking back at the ten years since the N64's launch (http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=0&cId=3153750). The start of Nintendo's slump, the N64 still managed to come out of the console wars with some great and lasting memories, like GoldenEye, Smash Bros., and Ocarina of Time. From the article:
"Nintendo certainly gave players plenty of time to get all 120 stars. By the end of 1996, the N64 still had fewer than a dozen games, and even that anemic library was glutted with mediocrity like Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Cruis'n USA. Sure, there were gems like Mario Kart 64 and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and there was the stubborn optimism of Nintendo of America President Howard Lincoln (who insisted N64 games sold more than 250,000 per title), but industry commentators were starting to see through the emperor's clothes. Meanwhile, Sony was turning up the heat with massive blockbusters like Final Fantasy VII."

What were your Favourite N64 Games ?

Shame they didn't bring the DD to the US. Might have turned Nintendo's failure around. The price for games certainly did not help with the N64 popularity

castlevania 64, I would love to see them do to castlevania what they did with zelda. Offer a new game with all of the old ones as a bonus.

Nice article. Really brings back a lot of N64 memories. They even explained the 64DD and it's "games"! :P

Nintendo is not good on home consoles..

That's a matter of opinion. My Gamecube has probably seen as much use as my Xbox, PSP, or DS. Definately more time than with the PS2.

Mario Kart 64 was awesome. Great multiplayer game.

I also love Star Wars Episode I Racer. Very difficult but very fun. I remember seeing a demo of it at Toys R Us when the N64 came out and I was in awe. It looked amazing. Now it doesn't look that good but it's still fun.

Smash bros was great too. Better than the GC version I thought. I think it was a great, system. Playstation was more for thinkers. I'm a numbskull, I just wanna play. Many great games for N64.

I gotta disagree man. I'd love to see some Sony Fanboy try to get through the Water Temple in OOT. They would be so lost...

its true jkkdark, people over 12 play mario and zelda. And dont make fun of "kids games" when you yourself have a picture of some animated little girl as your avatar, which some people (myself included) could say is for 12 year olds.
