The DS has some great homebrew which really extends the functionality of the console. It's much more then just kiddie games once you've got the right stuff.

Too non-GBA supporting to me.

Now to see if Translatords can translate swear words into latin....

Big question. I just bought the max media player for $155 to play homebrew games on the DS as well and play movies. I can still return it if I choose. Should I return it and get the DS-X? Can the Ds-X play all the file types for NDS like supercard? which would you say is better for homebrew games.

Return the Max Media Player bullshit, and try to pick up an M3 or Supercard, to use more stuff.

Return that hunk-of-junk as fast as you can and get a refund.
Put that refund towards a cheaper, more compatible flashcart solution (G6 Lite, M3 Lite, or SC Lite).
In the end you will STILL save money.

Does it cost more to get the SC Lite than the Ds-x? and how is the SC Lite better than the DS-x? Also, can the DS-x play all the homebrew games(sc, gba, ninjasd) if I change things like .ds.gba to .gba.nds?
