Five years may be a long time for most gadgets and consumer electronics, but you could argue that's just when video game consoles really hit their prime. Reaching that mark today is the Sony PlayStation 3 (http://www.engadget.com/tag/playstation3), which made its North American debut on November 17th, 2006 (a week after its launch in Japan).
