I've downdated 6 other mates machines to 1.5 already this week, but this new special edition firmware sounds really cool.

I'll stick to my beloved 1.5 for now, but its nice to know there are other real (and worthy) alternatives out there! :)

Why can't the wallpaper be changed? -except for colors

It should be change-able. Put an image in the "PHOTO" folder. Go to "Photo", open an image, and then select "Set as wallpaper" from the control panel to save the image for use as a wallpaper. BTW, What did everyone think of my video?

Now having this for one day it's getting bored already (I always want to tweak things, that's why I sended my psp 4 times to SONY now).
Can I modify this fw with X-flash... or another.

is there anyone who knows how to change the icons in the XMB, I wanna do that for a while now, or at some icons
i beileve apps like x-flash and psptheme are the 1% of homebrew that doesn't work :(, can't wait for that to get fixed...u can still mod devhook with custom gameboots and fonts

Seriously, what is the advantage (the REAL advantage) of having this as opposed to 1.50 with emulagted 2.71? So far i dont see a difference at all. If you wanna homebrew just hit select and home to go to 1.50 people i'd rather stay on 1.50, emulate 2.71 and not risk bricking my psp. 1.50 is the best firmware and always will be. 1.50 is where it all began!! (In The U.S) I see this firmware stuff as movie sequels not as good as the original :-)

I know. the fonts are working great. I fully understand the converter (shadow, bold, etc, etc). Also Vag adding works great.
The only thing I'm working on quit a while is those dmn gameboots.
Made some that work great ingame and in fw 1.50 but in 2.71 I can't get them to work. They freeze my dh. The things I'm now working on are those simple icons but that crazy work.
Hope to see a update of this firmware with more customizing features or somekind of x-flash extended.

I suppose the advantage is that you don't have to use devhook all the time, unless you use ISO's, which is illegal anyway. I for one, am very happy about not having to switch to 2.71 whenever I want to use the web browser. I know there are alternatives such as Lynx though, although it isn't as full featured (although it doesn't have that damn "out of memory" error).

Basically, it depends on your usage. If you find yourself having to continuously go back and forth between 1.5 and 2.71, then this is probably for you. If you don't use 2.71 alot, then you mayaswell stick with 1.5

As for people complaining about XFlash not working, it is probably being worked on. I've heard a version for 2.71 is being developed.

In my eyes anyhow, most of us spend more time outside the XMB than in it, so why bother customizing it? ;)

yeah, i find myself using devhooked 2.71 often, which is why this setup suits me best.

Same here, as I like to use the Sony browser. I know it's crap, but lynx through PSPRadio refuses to work with me, and I haven't got round to getting it again :p.

For pspradio you should download the version for 2.71 devhook. This also works great in 2.71 se

Or, you can just use the 1.50 version :)

PS: I've noticed, you can run the "return to 1.50 firmware" devhook application in this, which basically just reboots the psp :p

Yeah, my point is though you can even run it without doing it through devhook :p

yeh cuz it's for a devhook'd 2.71(which is the same thing as a non-devhook'd 2.71 fw) so it would work since this cfw has traces of 1.5 and 2.71(it's the first crossbred fw :D)

don't u gotta name the upgrade eboot.pbp to whatever fw upgrade it is, example a 1.5 "eboot.pbp" would be "150.pbp" cuz there would be too EBOOT.PBP's if u didn't..just wondering

edit: nevermind just realized u name it to UPADATE.PBP  silly me :p

recovery mode is hold ur power switch up til ur psp shuts off then start it up while holding the R trigger, the go to configuration and enable both of the options(or the one u want), then for 1.5 homebrew make a "GAME150" folder in ur "PSP" folder on ur MS(thur ur usb/pc) all ur 1.5 homebrew goes in there and 2.71 homebrew goes in the normal "GAME" folder

thanks both...but im still having corrupted data...even with the option of not showin corrupted data...im guessing its not workin well under this CFW... well the maker did say not all 1.50 homebrew worked

the problem with some homebrew showing as corrupt is the param.sfo (basically IRShell problem)
just change the param.sfo from the corrupt eboot with one that isnt corrupt

does anyone have problems running UMD's, I tried monster hunter and got an error, which is why i went back to 1.50 + devhook, if there is a way around this may upgrade again

yes, me

great work alex, no need for devhook again....well at least thats what id like to say, all but one of my games works. that one is monster hunter freedom (and is the one i play most often currently, whuich is unfortunate) every time i try to start it all it does is reboots the XMB with error
The Game Could Not Be Started '8002012D'

Otherwise, if you can, you should upgrade to this firmware

Technically the content in that is illegal, as it contains firmware dumps.

One thing that doesn't do though, is set up the recovery mode.

Yes you can still install recovery mode after u installed the 2.71SE.

Just copy the files from 'flasher for recovery' to your memory stick in PSP/GAME/RECOVERY then get the firmware EBOOT.PBP you want to recover to, rename it UPDATE.PBP and copy it to PSP/GAME/RECOVERY

Then you can run it from the recovery mode.

did u try the howebrew fixer for 2.71SE-A, just use pspbrew and make it into a 1.0 eboot if it's a 1.5 eboot then use the homebrew fixer and then u could make it into a 1.5 eboot(s) again and put it in the GAME150 folder and it should work i haven't tried it yet i'm still playing gpSP :D

hi guys im having trouble with the homebrew fixer.. first it says to change the eboot of 1.5 to 1.0 so that there will be one single folder, not two

. well, ive dont that to my gpsp. and it appears well and playable in psp. then i apply the 2.71SE Homebrew Fixer GUI to the gpsp folder. but when i exit devhook, the gpsp icon still dissappear, whys that?

the Fixer shows 'Application name' and the fix Eboot button. i entered the gpsp as the application name ,pressed the button and direct it to the gpsp eboot.pbp

am i doing something wrong? please help.
