The online retailer's debut tablet has caused quite the stir already and is reported (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/kindle-fire-ships-over-3m-units/016367) to have shipped as many as four million devices since its US launch last month.
The Kindle Fire is also rumoured to have become the number two to Apple's leading iPad 2.
Now, an analyst from Evercore Partners has informed CNN Money (http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2011/12/05/evercore-amazon-will-own-50-of-android-tablet-market-in-12/), the Kindle Fire is poised to become the most popular Android tablet ever.
Robert Chira, said: "While Amazon's Kindle Fire has come out of the gates strong, as expected, we see Apple maintaining its competitive lead, if anything accentuated by what now looks like the only tablet to so far mount any credible iPad challenge apparently needing to do so by selling at cost; not to mention Amazon's success may just vaporise other "for profit" Android tablet OEM roadmaps (e.g. we est Amazon 50% of all Android tablets in CY12).
"Meanwhile Apple goes on as the only vendor able to cream off the most profitable segment of each market it targets, whether tablet, smartphone or PC."
