The UK games market generated £62.2m last week, up 13.9 per cent over the seven days prior. Unit sales also rose 19.6 per cent from 1.9m to 2.2m in the first week of December.
Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beat down the competition again last week, topping the charts ahead of FIFA 12 and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. The CoD game also halted its weekly sales decline, with two per cent more units sold.
Sales were strong for portable games last week. Nintendo had three titles in the Top Ten including DS puzzler Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call at No.7, new 3DS release Mario Kart 7 at No.8 and Super Mario 3D Land at No.10.
There’s very few new games left to come out this year, but retail can still expect sales to grow as we hurtle towards Christmas
