Eiffel56 (http://www.portable-news.de/forums/viewtopic.php?p=14638#14638) has created a new homebrew application for 2.71 SE-A, that allows users to fully customize the firmware.

Hey Guys ;)

Here´s my very simple Firmware 2.71 SE-A Customizer. You can Modify Font, Gameboot and Background.
Just extract the EBOOT.PBP to /PSP/GAME150/271c.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! It writes to flash0!

Have fun

I have personally tested it and give it my seal of approval. My background didn't work though. I believe it needs to be 60x34.

The background didn't work for me. I believe the image needs to be 60 x 34. Im not positive, but the image I used was 300x170, but didn't work.

EDIT After launching a homebrew game, I noticed the gameboot didn't work completely. I say completley because it didn't get the colors or effects, but it got the general fading effect. Im using blueprint gameboot.

Is it possible to dump 2.71 SE so that TA-082 users can emulate it with DevHook?

cant 2.7 just set a backround without hacking, and change the font using the tiff app?
I suppose this is useful, but is it worth the risk?

uh-oh, theres a problem with it, it saves 04.bmp onto flash as 40.bmp, little mistake i thought everyone should know about (doesnt affect psp in any way except you now have an unused picture on flash)

it's ur gameboot then cuz mine works perfect, and motoko250 i think the gameboots wouldn't work for u cuz u were using PSPset v0.9 which IMO sucked cuz it was so old

I can't get background pictures to work. Can somone tell me of the dimensions of the picture that works and what you name it. And somone else try the blueprint gameboot and tell me if it works. i think the gameboots can't be over 1 megabyte.

1.make a 271c folder in GAME150, the eboot goes in there
2.put the font, gameboot, or background(not sure if it's working i used a pic i made and threw it in the PHOTO folder then set it as wallpaper) on the ROOT of ur MS
3.run the program and hit the button according to what u want to install(cross=font, circle=gameboot, square=background)
4.program will tell u when the action is complete u then reboot ur psp holding the powere switch til it shuts off...when u turn it on whatever u did should be installed

Good program, except the author should put specific directions in the Read Me. It will save people from having to post "how do I do this?" in every PSP forum. It is important, especially because the program writes to flash0.

I think that some boot screens don't work because they are too heavy, the original boot screen is about 196kb if my memory is good:rolleyes:

Here is my final statement on this topic. Gameboots can Not be used if they are over 1mb. There IS a new version out that fixes the spelling error and the random text when you try to flash a background. You can Not flash backgrounds with the current version, get the new one. Name the pictures 01, 02, 03... for the month you want (ex. January is 01 wheras 12 is December, for those who don't know how to count.). Have fun with customization!
