Ookm (http://0okm.blogspot.com/2006/10/psp-now-with-fw281-from-factory.html) has sent us this news:

If you do not have PSP
Better to buy one FW2.71 now
maybe later, you just can buy FW2.81 :P

Basically he says that Sony are sending out v2.81 PSPs from the factory now, so if you want homebrew PSPs use places like SuccessHK (http://www.superufo.com/product_html/SONY_PSP_PSP_Standard_Pack_Ceramic_White_Latest_Ve r___Jap_.html?aff_id=24) who do a range of different firmware PSPs.

Uh-oh... Hopefully, people will research what kind of PSP they need for homebrew before they buy a PSP. I didn't know there was a difference between PSPs in the homebrew department until I bought one, but I was lucky enough to be able to use eLoader.

The worse thing is, they'll likely be TA-082 2.81's aswell. A 2.81 is useless enough already...

Just as well I got my 2 PSPs (one 1003 white, one 1004 black) which aren't TA-82s before this factory 2.81s stared rolling out. They're both now FW 1.50 so double the homebrew.

By the way, where are the fist set of factory 2.81 PSP being sold? Are they TA-82s too? Please, someone tell me!

(It's just in case I brick one or both by accident and I have to blow another £150 a shot for each one.)

I wouldn't worry about it. I think by the time this scene is done, There wont be a single psp that wont be compatable with homebrew. Plus if someone really wants homebrew for there psp. Mod chips will always be the end victor.

and yet, the war of the PSP Homebrew continues on

WILL SONY DEFEAT HOMEBREWERS.....or will HOMEBREWERS TOPPLE OVER SONY.....and end up...helping its sales?

There's a little computer shop with a sign out the front near my work, saying they have 1.5 black and white PSP's, for well over the launch price from a year ago...

Aslong as nothing happens to my black 1.5, I wouldn't mind getting a White 2.81 to always keep officially updated :)
Then again, I could put those clams towards a PS3... Ah decisions.

My PC serves all my modern gaming/tv/DVD/internet/mp3/video/even proper working retro emu needs, so the only reason I enjoy my PSP, is for hombrew retro gaming in my pocket.

It doesn't matter what carrots Sony try to wave in front of me, after initially upgrading my original 1.5 PSP to 2.60, and then back again, I don't need to upgrade from 1.5, and I ain't gonna! :D

Although I have a true virgin launch 1.50 PSP, I still want a 2nd 1.50 for multiplayer homebrew, replacement, etc.

Can anyone recommend any stores or web-sites in the U.S.A. selling 1.50 PSP's. White or Black? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows the BOX LETTER CODES for non TA-082 2.50-2.71 PSP's that would work as well.

tru tru.... good thing i got mine already.... + for whoever lives in toronto or even i canada, heres alittl help. If there is a zellers store that no1 goes to much (since wal-mart has killed zellers in sales)you can buy psp's from there. since zellers isnt looked at for its entertainment, than their bound to have older merchandise including psps. shouldve thought of that b4 i bought mine at wal-mart:p :D (i heard that some zellers in sub urban places have 2.0 psps... pretty cool)

regardless people need to search better for a potential psp now a days but its out there people learn to look like places where you know they got old hardware is the best spots and of course online.
