A literally shit idea.
GigaOM (http://gigaom.com/cleantech/poop-rewards-cell-phone-minutes-for-sanitation/)has reported that Poop Rewards are being launched in India by entrepreneur Swapnil Chaturvedi to improve public health and sanitation in his country.
He worked out that half of all 1.2 billion Indians have access to clean toilets, and that 800m have phones. So he plans to give away talk minutes and other prizes to encourage Indians into their local washrooms.
His idea won first prize at the business competition Startup Weekend Delhi.
It's all designed to reduce churn for the operators and give them a chance to make a difference to their communities.
Apparently Chaturvedi's original project was to convert human waste into electricity, but swerved into this idea because of its greater potential for adoption and impact.
