Apple has had quite a week in patents for the iPhone, and it's only Tuesday. First was the victory (http://apple.slashdot.org/story/11/12/19/2329243/apple-wins-injunction-banning-import-of-htc-devices) at the International Trade Commission over HTC. And now there's a shiny new patent on switching to an app during a live phone call (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505124_162-57345445/apple-patents-using-apps-during-calls/) (#8,082,523 (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=8,082,523.PN.&OS=PN/8,082,523&RS=PN/8,082,523)). There may be non-infringing ways of doing something similar, but they probably will be clumsy in comparison.
