Well, you could use 2.60 (with GTA-LCS) too to be honest.

Right if you have a TA-082 psp you can check here if you have got one http://www.modchipstore.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=164

if you have got one you cannot downgrade but if you dont have one you can downgrade from any of these firmwares

2.01
2.5
2.6
2.71

2.8 and 2.81 psps cannot be downgraded

get a upgrade to 2.71 at psp-hacks.com
but 1.5 is better actually its the BEST

go for 1.5 but if you cant downgrade because you have a ta-082 motherboard then go to 2.71 and use the tiff eloader. http://publish.it168.com/2006/1010/images/136167.JPG if your psp looks like that you have TA-082 so DO NOT DOWNGRADE!!! just go to 2.71 and use the tiff loader you can find here-- http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=36627
