51 per cent of the broken device owners claim it still 'works fine.'
In addition to the two-fifths of Britons that are using iPhones with broken screens, promotions site MyVoucherCodes says 57 per cent have had a cracked iPhone screen at some stage of their ownership.
When asked why they continued to use a broken iPhone, more than half said the device 'worked fine', while 32 per cent didn't want to 'claim on insurance' for the damage, according to the report.
Whether this demonstrates the clumsiness of UK phone owners or perhaps the construction of the iPhone, 27 per cent said they had damaged the device within a month of having it. Additionally, most broke the handset within a period of one to three months.
Further results show consumer thoughts to protection through phone cases and screen covers are a pretty even divide. 45 per cent of iPhone owners said yes to using them, while 41 per cent said no, as 14 per cent said they did sometimes.
Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said: "As gadgets and technology have advanced, so have the price tags that come with them. Unfortunately, more expensive gadgets inevitably mean more expensive fixes when they are broken, so we really wanted to look into how people take care of their expensive consumer gadgets; particularly iPhones, given their current popularity.
