Dark_Alex (http://dax.lan.st) has updated his custom firmware "2.71SE" to version B', this fixes a few problems with the original B release.

- Fixed the problem of crashing if the iso folder didn't exist

To update, just run the new update from game150 folder, in 2.71 SE-A or 2.71 SE-B

As always with programs like this, that write to the flash there is the rish of bricking your PSP.

DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

this is mainly a bug fix of SE-B with a few other options you will have to check out in the readme.

Yay, I simply love this update! Now I don't need a disk in the UMD drive to play the - well, you know what's that aren't allowed to be mentioned in the forums - games I always wanted to get!

I've been planning to stick with 1.50. but this really seems alot nicer. any 1.50 people upgraded to this? what's your thoughts?worth it or stick with 1.50? I really cant decide

I've upgraded 5 psps now from 1.50 to 2.71SE-X. 1.50 is redundant to me now, and its lovely to develop on as you dont need to mess around with kxploited folder names.

You don't need to. Just follow the instructions in the readme and will work fine. :)

Can't see why you wouldn't upgrade to 2.71 SE. It got no negative side only positive things.

I have not seen any problems with 2.71 SE-B'. It runs 1.00 and 1.50 games and applications just fine, along with UMD games that require firmware version 2.71. :)

at first i was gunna stick with 1.5(the day SE-A came out), then i upgraded and i loved it, and i'm not going back...SE-B2 is even better so i suggest every 1.5er out there to upgrade, it's just a sooped up 1.5...it won't even feel like u upgraded :)

Great update! I'm installing SE-B right now, and will update as soon as it's finished.
Thanks for the news.

It appears to be a bugfix of SE-B... so it's SE-B revision "B".

It's all a bit confusing :-)

How about we call it 2.71SE-B2?

One possible negative. I can't seem to get USB host working in DevHook .46. I can boot into regular 2.71 just fine and memory stick stuff will register as a UMD, but no UMD icon will appear with programs via USB host.

I'll try a fresh install of DevHook next.

The_Ultimate_Eggman

I had same problem installed a earlier version of devhook and all good now...

You can use the vshex DLX mod (version 2 alpha 22), it has a builtin USB support and a nice and handy interface aswell.

From What i hear if you have a gameboot over 700kb you might want to remove it, some people have had problems with partial bricks from it, but you can always use the recovery menu if it hapens.

Does edison carters cheat device for GTA work with this Custom firmware? or will I have to use devhook in reverse to enable it?

Anybody know? ? ?

SE-B has HEN-C in it... if it wasn't for HEN-C this probably wouldn't exist either. And 2.71 homebrew can be kernel aswell... look at the easy downdater.

Well, 2.71 homebrew supports WPA for one... where 150 homebrew doesn't :)

i've always been loyal to 1.5 but now there is no point to stick with 1.5 anymore 2.71 SE-B has everything that 1.5 has and more

I was thinking what could be done to improve the SE firmware

I guess 2.82SE.... ;)

Shrygue
October 28th, 2006, 14:11
2.82 SE? That's sounds good but someone has to try and crack the security in that to make homebrew work as 2.71 SE-B does right now.

Then how do you get the 1.50 emulators to run ??
No of mine work.
Do I reinstall them or what.

I just restored it back to 1.50

Just upgraded from 1.5 - had some mixed results. ScummVM and SNES9X for example aren't working (got a 'Game cannot be started (80020130)' error), while PSPUAE worked.

Any ideas what could be wrong?? Anyway overall this is a great thing to hit the scene.

Now for a noob question: what is the deal with firmware updates with this... is there a way it can update (automatically or if i accidently do it) and if so, is there a way to disable this.

For homebrew just put all of it in the GAME150 folder and all of it should work.

Theres no way it can automatically update so dont worry.

There is no way it can update itself :) Update is disabled in this firmware.

As for homebrew, It is best (In my oppinion) If you set the GAME folder to be for 1.50 homebrew. You do that in the Recovery mode under Configuration.
