Combined best guess of 22 analysts.
Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-22/nokia-lumia-sales-seen-topping-1-million-in-respite-for-stock.html) spoke to a bunch of expert market weathers, who projected that Nokia sold 1.3 million units globally to operators and retailers by the end of last year.
The projections actually range from 800,000 to 2 million, but only one analyst predicted sales of fewer than one million handsets.
“The numbers look promising,” said Espen Furnes, an Oslo- based fund manager at Storebrand Asset Management.
“If Nokia is able to have a strong launch and surpass at least 1 million and keep that type of momentum, this would help put them in a credible position that is crucial to winning back investors.”
If true, it's good news for Microsoft and Nokia, which have declined to give sales figures but faced plenty of rumours suggesting the Lumia has proved disappointing.

Iquite like the Lumia. There seems to be a bit fo a discussion over its battery life but on the whole it seems like quite a tidy little phone (http://www.neowin.net/news/nokia-lumia-800-review-success-or-failure).
Interesting that "sold units" are actually just estimates based on how much nokia shipped out. The actual figure of phones sold could be well under that. http://venturebeat.com/2012/01/23/nokia-lumia-1m-sales/ for a little bit more info.
