Gingerbread OS is the most dominant with almost two-thirds.
Ice Cream Sandwich (or Android 4.0) is the seventh Android OS to have been launched, making its debut on the Galaxy Nexus (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/samsung-unveils-galaxy-nexus/015888) in November 2011.
According to CultOfAndroid (http://www.cultofandroid.com/3688/occupy-android-ice-cream-sandwich-now-on-1-of-android-devices/?utm_campaign=twitter&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitter), ICS now occupies one per cent of Android devices and while that may sound pretty feeble, the platform is still only available for the Galaxy Nexus at present.
The results show Gingerbread (Android 2.3) is the driving force for the platform leading with 58.6 per cent of all devices, followed by Froyo (2.2) with 27.8 per cent.
However, ICS adoption should rise in the near future followingSamsung's plans (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/samsung-announces-ice-cream-sandwich-for-galaxy-devices/016543) to roll the OS out on Galaxy devices including the S II, Note, R and Tab this quarter.
The Samsung devices can expect to receive improved multi-tasking, notifications, wi-fi connections, NFC support and web browsing.
