The world's starving must be full of sympathy.
New research from security specialist SecurEnvoy says nomophobia – the fear of being without their phone – afflicts 66 per cent of UK consumers.
It also revealed that 41 of people have two phones or more to mitigate against their dread.
Women worry about losing their phones more than men – 70 per cent versus 61 per cent, even though it's men that are more likely to have two phones – scoring 47 per cent and 36 per cent respectively.
Unsurprisingly the 18 to 24s are the most nomophobic at 77 per cent.
SecurEnvoy added that the condition is one the rise, as the first study into nomophobia, conducted four years ago, revealed that 53 per cent of people suffered from it.
