For the past few days ive been trying to get some emulators onto my psp. Apparently, FW 2.60 sucks, so ive been trying to get 2.71 se. I'm so confused about how to downgrade and then re-upgrade, and i have no idea which files to use. Would it be possible for someone to link me to the files and kinda give me a step by step guide on doing this?

to update to 2.71
1st method find 2.71 update eboot>create update folder>put in PSP/GAME folder

2nd method get a umd game that requires 2.71 and then update

U can get 2.71 update eboot from psp hacks google it

Feenux857
November 7th, 2006, 14:53
Ive created the UPDATE folder, its under PSP/GAMES. That's as far as ive gotten, my psp wont recognize the update...or morelikely im just dumb and dont know what to do next.

try psp/game not games

blackrave
November 7th, 2006, 14:57
So you have made an UPDATE folder (with capital letters), and put the 2.71 EBOOT update in it? The file that is called EBOOT.PBP. And then you go to the game icon in the PSPs main menu, down to memory stick, and there's nothing there?

Could you please explain it a little more detailed so we can help you most effectively?

I figured it out. For some reason, i had a PSP folder under my main PSP folder, is that makes sense. As of right now, I'm 7% updated to 2.71. :D

ok good luck updatin and Get HEN-C fully set up first before u attempt anything

November 7th, 2006, 15:09
I'm not sure about this, but don't you have to upgrade to 2.00 and downgrade to 1.50 again afterwards, due to some broken files after downgrading, or is that fixed in the HEN-C downgrader?

Feenux857
November 7th, 2006, 15:10
Well, i just tried installing HEN C. And i pressed circle to start it. Now it says "Open file Error, PowerOFF to exit." Did i just brick my psp? It won't power off

blackrave
November 7th, 2006, 15:13
Hold your power switch up for a while and it will turn off. If it doesn't turn on again and only has a green light, then I'm afraid you have bricked it.

Are you sure you have put the files in the right location and all the neccessary files included? I have no experience with HEN-C, so I can't help you much there. You can consult the readme file.

Feenux857
November 7th, 2006, 15:14
Well, it finally powered off, but i dont think anything happened. It powers back on normally. I put the Hen C folder from the .zip file under the PHOTO folder. The program runs, but i get that goofy error message.

try this play around with it get a hang of it the n downgrade.
Sry but I cant help u much with henC I am not a 2.71 user:(

its a henc with reverse devhook emulating 1.5 if u can get devhook to start I dun see why u cant downgrade as it requires henC good luck

U dont have to as generic downgrader formats ur flash and acts like an official 1.5 updater thus gives u clean firmware not crippled like 2.5-2.6 downgraders

Whatever...i just deleted all my stuff accidentally...now im put off from this. Ill just try later. Things to do. Thanks for everyone's help though.

That is only if you have a 1.5

November 7th, 2006, 18:16
Alright. I'm back from doing my work and im ready to give this another shot. First though, a few questions. Is Hen-C absolutely necessary to install before downgrading to 1.50? Is Hen C needed to install 2.71 SE from 1.50?

splodger15
November 7th, 2006, 18:22
you could just stay at 1.5

Feenux857
November 7th, 2006, 18:30

I dont have 1.5. I just upgraded from 2.6 to 2.71 in order to downgrade to 1.5 then upgrade to 2.71 SE. Do you know if i need Hen-C to downgrade from 2.71 or if i need it to upgrade from 1.50 to 2.71 SE?

splodger15
November 7th, 2006, 18:36
1.5 can play homebrew as well and have custom firmware and emulate to 2.71

Shrygue
November 7th, 2006, 18:37
You need HEN-C if you wish to run the generic downgrader. Also, for the downgrader to run, you'll need the official 1.50 update package and have your battery level charged up at over 75%.

Feenux857
November 7th, 2006, 18:41
How exactly do i install Hen C? I've seen like three versions and i just dont want to get a brick.

Shrygue
November 7th, 2006, 18:46
You can use the TIFF downgrader as you can access that though the photo viewer in normal operating conditions. As for installing HEN-C just follow the instructions in the zip or rar package.

November 7th, 2006, 19:25
I'm completely lost. I must be retarted or something. Ive tried the HEN C installer 5 times and each time it always comes up with an error message. Something about a "fileERROR". This is really starting to frustrate me.

EDIT: Turns out i am retarted. I finally got this to work. I am finally in 1.50. Thanks to you guys for putting up with me through this. Now i just need to install 2.71SE.

November 7th, 2006, 19:50
I had about the same problem before on one of my PSPs but I got though. Good luck, and don't brick! :)

Feenux857

All of the directions for 2.71se seem so nebulous....or maybe its me being retarted again. Can anyone give a very easy to follow guide/tutorial?

You should update it to 2.71 SE-B'' by getting it here (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=41189). The link will refer you to the thread where the actual download link is.

Guy's can I go from 2.71 directly to 2.71SEB" without installing any of the other versions?
I think I'm gonna go for the golden firmware today :)

M!ckeY
November 7th, 2006, 21:17
No, you have to downgrade to 1.50, and then from there go to SE-B.

Oh, so SE is installed from 1.5.
Well that's where I'm at now,do I need to do a clean 1.5 install cause my 1.5 firmware is heavily modded?

M!ckeY
November 7th, 2006, 21:27
I guess you could do that, to be on the safe side, but i have flashed SE-B many times when my psp was modded.

Shrygue
November 7th, 2006, 21:28
I'm not sure and wasn't so back when I decided to do this. For me, I downgraded to firmware version 1.0, got back to 1.50 using the official updater to clean install it and then made the mighty jump to 2.71 SE. I had no problems at all.

HenC is a homebrew enabler and it is needed for 2.71 I gave u a link to a full installation of HenC(along with reverse devhook) there and that shud settle all ur problems. If I am not wrong henC sometimes is a little funny out of 5 times u attempt to use it 1-2 times willl fail in this set henC will flash becoz by flashing it improves the success rate of henC search for the normal henC if u dun wan to flash I havent see a full setup before though only a faq on henB by razorak check it out if u want

2.71se now is still out of ur reach as it needs 1.5 coz 2.71 se is a hybrid firmware(mixture of 1.5 to 2.71).

As I said before play with henC first get a hang of it then attempt to downgrade.

Tuta, I'm already running 1.5. I finally downgraded. Is it possible to jumop straight to 2.71 SE-B'' from 1.5? If so, specific directions? I always try to follow teh readme directions, but sometime's they arent written too well.

tuta
November 8th, 2006, 01:41
U can go to se-b directly no ned for se-A follow the link I gave u and download 2.71se-b full install it includes 1.5 recovery also everything u need is in there

Feenux857
November 8th, 2006, 01:43
Are you 100000000% sure that I don't need to upgrade to SE-A and then to B?

M!ckeY
November 8th, 2006, 02:29
SE-A is not required in order to upgrade to SE-B, you could just do a direct upgrade, that's what i always do.:)

Eh I don't really trust full installers especially from psp-hacks.I'd rather do it manually,it's not like anything is that hard with a little reading.

In the extracted download there should be folders named sedupmaker and sedupmaker%. Put the 1.5 and 2.71 updates in there(have to name them somthing differently its in the readme). Run that and it will make a file named DATA.DXAR. Put that in the other folder and run it. It will flash se-b for you.
